Enthusiasts restore piece of Coast Guard history

CHATHAM — One of the few remaining motorized Coast Guard surfboats has come back home to the Cape. Under the fluorescent lights of the garage at Coast Guard Station Chatham, volunteers have been painting the 26-foot wooden boat and restoring its Buda diesel motor. South Dennis resident Dick Boonisar donated it to the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Bad weather delays salvage of US ship

With the crane on “M/V Jascon 25” in position in Tubbataha Reef, the US Navy (USN) and salvage teams have begun transferring mine countermeasure equipment from the “USS Guardian (MCM 5),” a statement from the US Seventh Fleet said on Sunday.
